Why you will love our centre

Centre Manager

Hi, I'm Tegan, Centre Director at Busy Bees at Waurn Ponds. One of the things you'll love most about our centre is that every part of our environment has been intentionally designed around children's age, stage and development. From our shoes-off nursery and dedicated Art Rooms to separate indoor and outdoor learning spaces for every age group, every detail has been carefully considered to help children thrive.

Just as thoughtfully, we've built a close-knit community where every child and family is genuinely known. Our long-standing educators create lasting relationships, while children enjoy child-led learning through hands-on projects, nature experiences, Happy Feet, excursions, visits from reptiles and butterflies, and time with Bluey, our much-loved blue-tongue lizard.

Supported by strong community partnerships and educators who proudly choose the centre for their own children, we've created a place where families feel connected, confident and truly belong.

Centre Director

I began my early learning journey in 2011 at Waurn Ponds, where I started as an educator before progressing into leadership. After leading another centre, I was proud to return and now lead the team I grew alongside. I truly believe the first five years are the most important in a child's life, and I'm passionate about helping children learn alongside their peers in a nurturing environment. Supporting families is just as important to me as supporting the children in our care. I love helping families navigate something new, building genuine connections and giving them confidence as they begin their early learning journey. What I love most about our centre is the warm, welcoming atmosphere, from the soft music in the foyer to the smiles, conversations and sense of community that greet families each day. At home, I'm outnumbered by boys with my husband, two sons and two dogs, and I still hope to have a pet cow one day.

Educational Leader

I began my early learning journey in 2012 and have proudly grown alongside Busy Bees at Waurn Ponds for much of my career. As Educational Leader, I'm passionate about supporting educators to grow and succeed, and seeing the meaningful impact they have on children's learning and development. I value ongoing reflection and professional growth, both for myself and across our centre, and I'm driven by the opportunity to create positive outcomes for children, families and our wider community through collaborative leadership. What I love most about our centre is its strong sense of community and the genuine, trusting relationships we've built with our team and families. Weekends are all about spending time with my family, heading out on adventures together.

Family Advocate

I began my early learning journey in 2025, bringing with me more than 35 years of experience in administration and people-focused roles. After many years volunteering at a children's camp, I saw firsthand how positive relationships and supportive environments can shape a child's confidence and wellbeing, inspiring me to become a Family Advocate. I love guiding families from their first enquiry through to their child's first day, communicating clearly and helping every family feel confident, supported and cared for. What I love most about Busy Bees at Waurn Ponds is our strong sense of community, where families are welcomed, valued and children's wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. I'm also a self-confessed coffee lover and enjoy hitching up my vintage 1974 York caravan for coastal getaways with Maisie the Moodle.
