Hi, I'm Emily, Centre Director at Busy Bees. We provide high-quality childcare in Woodend, and one of the things you'll love most about our centre is the trust we've built within our community. With one educator celebrating 26 years at the centre and a remarkably stable team, families know their children are supported by educators who genuinely know, value and advocate for them.

Children enjoy one of the region's most extensive excursion programs, with up to 120 excursions each year that extend learning far beyond the centre walls. They also love exploring our huge outdoor environments, caring for Betty and Chainsaw, our resident chickens, and helping tend the produce gardens that support our sustainability program.

We believe children's voices matter. From our child-created safety initiatives to everyday opportunities for children to make choices and advocate for themselves, we've created a calm, homely community where every child feels safe, respected and empowered.

How Does Busy Bees Keep Children Safe?

Your child should be free to enjoy their day while you get on with yours. Safety runs through everything we do here at our Woodend early learning centre, from the way our educators supervise and respond to children to the procedures that guide our everyday care.

Fees & Child Care Subsidy

Childcare is an important part of the family budget, so it’s helpful to have a clear idea of the support available to you.

Families using Busy Bees childcare and kindergarten in Woodend may be eligible for the Australian Government’s Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which can reduce the amount you pay out of pocket. Your CCS amount is based on your family’s individual circumstances and eligibility.

I began my early learning journey in 2020 after many years supporting children as a nanny, dance instructor and volunteer in primary schools overseas. Ever since I was four years old, I’ve wanted to help others, and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of children’s early years. I’m passionate about every child having the right to be heard and access to high-quality early education. Connection keeps my cup full, whether it’s with children, families, our team or through continually learning and growing together. What I love most about our centre is the incredible team culture we have. We love to learn together, give and receive feedback, challenge each other's thinking and celebrate each person's strengths. Combined with our wonderful children and families, it's what makes our community so special.

I began my early learning journey in 1998 and have proudly spent my entire career at Woodend, supporting children, families and colleagues while growing both personally and professionally. My passion for early childhood education comes from a belief in the lifelong impact of high-quality early learning. Building strong partnerships with families and meaningful connections within our community is at the heart of everything I do because those relationships help children thrive and create a true sense of belonging. Now, as Educational Leader, it's incredibly special to see the children I once taught returning with families of their own. What I love most about our centre is our strong sense of community, where everyone feels connected, valued and supported. You might also find me enjoying a game of bingo!

How do I enrol my child at Busy Bees at Woodend?

Yes. We understand that every family’s week looks different, so Busy Bees provides Woodend childcare that suits a range of care arrangements, subject to availability. What is included in my child’s care?

We take care of many of the everyday essentials, so there’s less for your family to remember each morning. At Busy Bees in Woodend, our daycare is all-inclusive, providing nutritious meals and snacks, nappies, wipes, sunscreen, hats and other essentials your child may need throughout their day.

Before the first day, our team will tell you what to pack. This will usually include a change of clothes, any medication, milk or formula, and a comfort item if your child has one.

How do you keep parents updated on our child’s progress?

We encourage families to be involved in their child’s day. We share regular updates about their learning, development, routines and those little moments you’ll want to hear about through the Storypark app.

Staying connected also happens face to face. Our Woodend educators take the time to chat with you about how your child is going and welcome updates from home to help us work together as your child grows and develops.

What medical emergency and security measures do you have in place?

Your child’s wellbeing is at the heart of how we approach every day at Busy Bees. Our childcare in Woodend follows clear procedures for medical situations, emergencies, allergies, medication and supervision, with qualified team members available to provide first aid or CPR when required.

The centre also controls access via secure entry and exit procedures. Along with attentive supervision and established safety practices, these measures give children a secure environment where they can confidently explore, play and learn.
