Help Us Protect Children this White Balloon Day

National Child Protection Week is just around the corner, and we’re only days away from proudly participating in Bravehearts’ 25th Annual White Balloon Day on Friday 10 September. This year, Busy Bees Australia are proud to be an official giving partner of Bravehearts, joining them to #ProtectKids and support their vision to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child.

White Balloon Day is Australia’s largest and longest running awareness and fundraising campaign dedicated to preventing child sexual assault and exploitation. As an early learning provider, we know that we are often representing the voices of children who may not be able to speak up for themselves. Supporting White Balloon Day enables us to work in partnership with Bravehearts to advocate for child protection and educate the wider community about how we can protect our children from harm and exploitation.

Child Protection at Busy Bees

Child protection is a key area of focus for Busy Bees Australia because the safety of our children is paramount. It’s our mission to give every child the best start in life, and we know this isn’t possible if a child isn’t safe. We believe that everyone has a part to play in keeping children safe and protecting them from harm, and we ensure that child protection is embedded in every aspect of our organisation from what happens on the floor in our Services, to how we operate in head office.

We equally recognise that connectivity through community is important to build impact and raise awareness for causes that foster positive outcomes for our children, people and families, working together in unity to create a better future. That is why Busy Bees Australia is so excited to be partnering with Bravehearts in 2021 for White Balloon Day, and we need you on board with us!

Simple ways you can support White Balloon Day in your community:

  • Get the facts – Read and raise awareness about some of the myths and facts surrounding child sexual assault and exploitation
  • Talk to children about safety – it’s important that children are educated on personal safety and feel empowered to speak up and speak out if they feel unsafe. Bravehearts have resources for parents and carers on how to talk to children about staying safe, as well as how to recognise the signs of abuse
  • Wear white and fundraise – all our Busy Bees Services will be fundraising for Bravehearts this White Balloon Day on Friday 10 September. You can show your support by wearing white and donating to your Service’s fundraising page. You can also donate directly on the White Balloon Day website. Busy Bees will be matching donations made on the day, so we appreciate your support in helping us raise as much as possible!

We appreciate the support of all our Services, families and wider communities in helping us raise awareness of child sexual assault and #BreakTheSilence on White Balloon Day. We need every Australian on board in this important cause to protect children and ensure they can have the very best start in life.
