Busy Bees at Balcatta provides exceptional care for children aged 8 weeks to 5 years. A favourite with the children, our Service has a pet bunny called Gus, teaching them about care, empathy and responsibility. One of the core focuses of our Service is school readiness, and we’re closely aligned with our neighbouring West Balcatta Primary School to offer programs that enable a smooth school transition for all children in our care.
We believe children are infinitely competent, active and come equipped to guide their own development and learning, striving to integrate their physical, cognitive, social, emotional, moral and spiritual aspects of being.
Our team of passionate and experienced Educators have been involved with the Service for many years, which demonstrates their love and commitment to the children, our Families and the Balcatta community. The team have an excellent relationship with the neighbouring West Balcatta Primary School, keeping across developments in Kindy and Pre-Primary Education as part of our school readiness program.
Busy Bees at Balcatta encompasses an innovative approach which is based on the discovery and exploration of respectful relationships with children. Â We follow this philosophy and offer children uninterrupted time for play, plenty of freedom, a calm and relaxed environment, cooperative relationships, and our full attention.
Our learning program is inspired by Montessori teachings and philosophies, and our curriculum draws upon the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) whilst maintaining an awareness of the Australian Curriculum. Children are given opportunities to test their ideas, themselves, their relationships and materials. We believe that play fosters imagination and flexibility of mind, promoting children’s ability to be open and independent learners now and in the future. We promise our dedicated learning program is jam-packed with unique and stimulating activities you won’t find anywhere else!
Quality Early Learning does more than just prepare children to become eager school students — it builds resilience, vital social skills and independence.

Service Manager
Hello, my name is Sunitha and I am the Service Manager for Busy Bees at Balcatta.
I am an International Montessori Teacher and I have a background in the performing arts. But most importantly, I am a “mumsy” and a “wifey” roles that I utterly adore.
As I have worked through the years in this sector, on the floor as a teacher and in several leadership roles, I have learned that one of the things that is vital for success is fostering supportive relationships.
On the flip side of my work persona, I am a bookworm, a connoisseur of a good cuppa, friend of four legged creatures and trying to master at least one yoga pose!
The Montessori approach was something that we looked for when choosing a day care, and learning Italian is an added bonus! It has a wonderful outdoor play area and he always has a great day. Thank you to all of the staff at Busy Bees at Balcatta. We can’t recommend it enough.
At times it is hard to drop him off as he gets upset and doesn't want to stay, but the staff are very caring and always make him feel safe and settle him very quickly which makes the morning drop offs easier and sets our minds at ease. The centre is always clean and they fill the day with lots of fun activities. It's great to receive updates and pictures throughout the day so we can see him play, learn and grow. Thanks to all the staff you guys are fantastic!!!
She has really thrived here. The staff are so lovely and are always so helpful. The manager always makes sure things are running smoothly and nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. I highly recommend the centre in Balcatta and am extremely pleased with the set up.
The updates via Storypark are fantastic (they must take a lot of time). Always extremely clean, healthy menus and a big variety of activities for the children (including cooking and cleaning!). I highly recommend the Kindy program.
It’s not the closest day care to us but I am more than happy to travel there.
They always have time to talk to you and tell you how her day has been. I would recommend it to all my friends.
It's so comforting to know he is safe and happy when I am at work, and it is lovely to hear him chatting about his day when I pick him up. The staff do a great job and are very professional. You can go to work knowing your precious babes are in good hands.
My daughter didn't like traditional day care and this school made all the difference to our lives — she loves going to school now.
I am eternally grateful for the commitment they show for his emotional, intellectual, physical, psychological and social well-being. Absolutely 10 stars from my son and me!
I love their educational program and individual approach to each child allowing them to excel in what they're interested in. The first thing I noticed when visiting for the first time was how quiet it was. All kids were so absorbed in the work they were doing!
In the spirit of reconciliation, Busy Bees Early Learning acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and recognises First Nations peoples’ continued cultural and spiritual connections to land, sea, sky and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
