Service Manager
Hello, my name is Ashton Meadows and I am Service Manager for Busy Bees at Cameron Park Preston. I have been a part of the service since it opened it’s doors in 2017 in a Lead Educator role before stepping into the Service Manager Role in 2019.
I have been a part of the Early Childhood sector since 2012 and am passionate about providing high quality education and care for all children and families.
I believe education and care work in partnership with each other and strive to provide a calming and nurturing environment where children are given the opportunities to develop and learn new skills each day. I am passionate about providing children with hands on learning and our day care has a strong learn through play philosophy.
I strive to build a communicative, knowledgeable and caring team to ensure children and families have the consistency that they desire. We will work in partnerships with families to support their child’s growth and ensure each child is set up for success.
I look forward to meeting and welcoming new families that are looking for an inclusive and supportive environment.
Assistant Service Manager
Hello, my name is Katherine Spencer and I am the Assistant Service Manager for Busy Bees at Cameron Park Preston. I have been working as an Early Childhood Teacher at this Service since 2018. After settling into the Service and getting to know children, families and Educators, I moved into the second-in-charge role in early 2022.
In my 10 years of experience teaching children across Newcastle, I have built a wide range of skills in the education field. My core passion is advocating for children and finding ways to include the ideas of respect. I work closely with children and Educators everyday to examine how we demonstrate respect—from words to actions.
As we work and play on Awabakal land, I find ways to include Indigenous perspectives. I embed authentic experiences that inspire children and families to make valuing First Nations people an everyday learning opportunity.
As a strong supporter of celebrating diversity, my role at the Service is to question long-held beliefs and encourage new thinking. I strive to ensure everyone feels heard and represented within our walls. I welcome all families and children into our Service, providing a warm and nurturing environment. I am passionate about the inclusion of all, deconstructing the ideas of cultural diversity, gender roles, well-being, resilience, family units and children with additional needs.
I have enjoyed building my leadership roles in this capacity and view open communication as a vital tool. As the Assistant Manager, my role is to support Ashton and our team to create the high quality Service we all want to be at.
They love their friends and their educators. As a mum I really like the friendliness, environment, ever readiness to help in any situation and structure of learning. I would highly recommend this place.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Busy Bees Early Learning acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and recognises First Nations peoples’ continued cultural and spiritual connections to land, sea, sky and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
