Service Manager
My name is Effey Mastoris and I have been working in the Early Childhood Education and care sector for 20 years. I have worked at Jenny Wren specifically for the last 15 years both in learning environments and in a management role.
I am passionate about the work we do, at Jenny Wren, as a team and having worked for so many years alongside so many amazingly passionate Educators I see the greatest benefits in utilising the skills and knowledge of each of them as individuals. This allows our service to nurture all children and families in a holistic manner. Mentoring young educators to reach their utmost potential is one of my passions and necessary in providing children with the care and education that they all deserve.
I am extremely proud of our outdoor environment and am passionate about the learning that occurs within our natural surroundings. I am inspired greatly by the workings of Clare Warden who said “If we really want children to thrive we need to let their connection to nature nurture them.”
Assistant Service Manager
Hi, my name is Bec Greig and I am the Assistant Service Manager at Jenny Wren Early Learning by Busy Bees.
I joined the team here in February 2005 at only 18 years of age. I had always had a passion for working with children, with the intent of becoming a “teacher” from a very young age. After completing work experience opportunities within a school and studying a unit related to children’s services during my college years, I knew my path would continue in early childhood education.
Only months after finishing year 12, I started on the team at Jenny Wren Early Learning by Busy Bees with no qualifications, quickly completing my Certificate III, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and moving my way from Assistant Educator, Lead Educator, Educational Leader and 2IC. I am currently nearing the completion of my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
In my 18 years, I have been lucky enough to work across all age groups and loved them all equally. I am particularly driven by, and feel lucky to play a part in, the beautiful growth of each child as they develop their own unique identities. I have a passion for leadership and mentoring, which I get to engage in within both my roles as 2IC and Educational Leader. I feel very lucky to be part of a strong team of Educators, many I have worked alongside for more than 10 years.
I am a wife and mother to a nine-year-old boy, and our favourite thing to do as a family is to attend the Canberra Raiders games throughout the NRL season.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Busy Bees Early Learning acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and recognises First Nations peoples’ continued cultural and spiritual connections to land, sea, sky and community. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
