Vegemite Loaf Recipe

Our wonderful Chef Tim from Busy Bees on Ashdale created this tasty treat for National Vegemite Day. Try it today!

Vegemite Loaf


  • 1kg baker’s flour
  • 12g salt
  • 12g sugar
  • 12g dry yeast
  • 40g olive oil
  • 630g water 25°C
  • Grated cheese (amount as per individual taste)
  • Vegemite with a little water (amount as per individual taste)


  1. Sift and mix all dry ingredients together, then add water and oil
  2. Knead until smooth and elastic
  3. Cover and place in a warm area until the dough has doubled in size
  4. Knock back dough
  5. Roll out on bench, then spread with Vegemite and sprinkle with grated cheese
  6. Roll dough into a long tube and place onto a baking tray
  7. Spread the top of the dough with Vegemite and cheese
  8. Put aside to rise again
  9. Bake in oven (220°C degrees) until golden brown
